There are pinky equivalents, cacodemon equivalents, imp equivalents, pain elemental equivalents, and archvile equivalents. Enemy designs might be my one gripe with Prodeus, because while varied, they lack surprise. Things start slow, with some standard fireball-shooting demons and zombies that lurch about, but more interesting and challenging foes are sprinkled in throughout the campaign. Prodeus towers above that experience with more satisfying weapons (including one of the best chain guns I’ve seen in a shooter), great level design, and some eye-popping art. I play a Frankenstein’s monster version of classic DOOM, loaded up with all sorts of mods that make it punchier, grosser, and smoother. (Just gives the title screen logo a neat pulsing animation.There’s no denying that Prodeus leans hard on the likes of DOOM for inspiration, but is so well-designed and fun to play that I can hardly criticize it for that. (Purchasable Buckethead music for Sigil.) (Fairly faithful rerecorded renditions of the classic music.) (Adds lights where it makes sense, like making demon eyes glow in the dark.) (Adds more frames of animation between existing keyframes to make the weapons animate at a higher framerate.) (Replaces the original 11hz weapon sfx with high fidelity versions sourced from the original sound libraries.) Fixes shifted offsets, wayward pixels, missing rotations.) (Like a bug patch for the original sprites. I like playing Doom1/2 with mods but mostly in ways that sort of make them into "remasters" that remain relatively faithful to the original gameplay. (There's an enhanced weapon system that gives every weapons a custom alt fire, but it's optional) It adds new effects like smoke, casings, flies flying over corpses, debris, hugely enhanced gibbing system, smooth weapon animations, but playing exactly the same as the original game. It a complete visual overhaul that does alot of minor things to touch the game up, and while it has new gore effects, they are far more tasteful then Brutal Doom's. So I thought it would be cool to show off some alternatives.īeautiful Doom is one of the best. And how alot of people don't know about the author being an utter scum bag. The mainstream gaming media promotes his mod all the time. So it surprises me even on this forum people talking about how they can only play DOOM with this horrible mod installed. Marcos is so reviled in the Doom Modding community alot of Wads are putting in measures that doesn't let there mods run with Brutal Doom installed. He later claimed the person was a troll but still. Aggressively tell people dealing with suicide to kill themselves, and he gave them instructions on how to do it. He's unable to handle criticism and lashes out as his own fans, even if something super minor. He full on Neo Nazi and denies the Holocaust. Got banned from DW and the ZDoom forums for racism and sexism. He did not take inspiration he ported pictures of real dead bodies and put them in his mod. He used pictures of real dead bodies as sprites. This whole thing is made even more laughable when he wrote a manifesto decrying ID of copying his life works! (Despite the fact the elements he's talking about were in the cancelled Call of Doom rendition of DOOM 4 before his mod existed) Has stolen assets without asking for permission from other modders for his Brutal Doom Project. The other people are pretty questionable in themselves, but Marcos has, in no specific order (I won't link it cause I don't want to give it attention but just imagine a souless Doom clone not joking looks like he just painted over the ID assets with his own stuff). Long story short, along with some other people who have a bigoted history, the infamous Marcos Abenante was invited to the show, to display his newly announced game.
